Sioux Lookout Hydro is taking part in a new municipal-provincial joint AffordAbility Fund program to help lower electricity bills for people with moderate incomes.
Program spokesperson Tim Wilson says they want to offer home energy kits that will help bring down costs.
Wilson says they are trying to reach to individuals who don’t have the funds to buy energy conservation items, such as light bulbs.
He notes their research shows that there are more than a couple of million homes where electricity affordability is still an issue.
Wilson notes in some cases they’ll be replacing fridges and other appliances with more energy efficient ones.
