Ontario’s elementary teachers have accepted a new deal with the government after months of labour strife.
The agreement, reached earlier this month, freezes wages, but guarantees a 2% raise starting next year.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario says 91% of its members who voted accepted the deal.
Education Minister Liz Sandals says the two sides have come a long way toward rebuilding their relationship.
The public school teachers are paid 2% less than teachers in the French and Roman Catholic school systems, but Sandals promises that will be fixed before the next round of bargaining.
