There’s a new winter highway maintenance provider in the Kenora district.
The provincial government has signed a five year contract with EMCON Services.
Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca says they will be taking over operations on September 1st.
Del Duca says EMCON will be bringing in underbody plows with a better record of breaking up snow pack, along with patrol vehicles that have plows and the ability to dispense de-icing fluid as they are travelling.
The contract between the MTO and Transfield Services was terminated earlier this year.
