The Dryden Fire Service did the same this morning as it payed tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the 9/11 attacks.
Acting Chief Ken Kurz says the event changed the world forever.
He says its a day of remembering and reflection.
Kurz notes the terrorist attacks did help emergency services better plan for a disaster.
Kurz says we continue to feel the effects of the terrorist attacks as a report out shortly is expected to identify 58-new cancers emergency workers have contracted following the event.
The ceremony also gave Kurz a chance to thank emergency personnel in the community.
