The energy announcement for the forest sector in the North continues
to draw mixed reviews.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton says the $140-million deal
doesn’t do anything for several area Municipalities and warns it won’t
stem job losses.
Hampton says the Government doesn’t understand a $45 all-in rate is what’s needed.
The NDP Leader adds the announcement was pre-election posturing aimed
at protecting 6 Liberal seats in Northern Ontario.
Dryden Mayor Anne Krassilowsky says she was pleased to finally see
some action from the Province but notes more work is needed to allow Mills to become competitive.
She adds area communities will continue to pursue a $45 all-in
rate.
