Provincial Police were extremely busy during ‘Operation Corridor’.
The OPP conducted the 24-hour commercial motor vehicle safety blitz last week.
Over the course of the campaign, officers stopped more than 700 transports across the province.
Officers handed out 127-speeding tickets, 113-equipment charges, 78-seatbelt charges and 40-distracted driving charges.
A total of 41 tractor trailer units were taken out of service during the initiative.
Specific numbers for northwestern Ontario weren’t released.
The OPP is reminding commercial truck drivers that safe driving, proper maintenance and adherence to inspection requirements is extremely important.
