Engine Failure Cause Of Fatal Red Lake Crash

The Transportation Safety Board is out with the cause of a fatal November, 2013 plane crash just south of the Red Lake Airport.
The Bearskin Airlines aircraft suffered a near total loss of power in the left engine about 500-feet above ground during its final approach.
The TSB says the crew didn’t have time to take action and they lost control at an altitude from which a recovery wasn’t possible.
The two crew members and three of the five passengers lost their lives in the crash when the plane struck trees and power lines and was destroyed by a fire.
Bearskin has since revised its engine failure procedures and the engine manufacturer has increased its level of inspections.
The plan was on a flight from Sioux Lookout.
