Environment Canada warns freezing rain on the way

Intermittent periods of freezing rain are expected on Saturday in parts of northwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada has put out alerts for the following areas:

  • Ignace – English River
  • Seine River Village – Mine Centre
  • Atikokan – Upsala – Quetico
  • Kakabeka Falls – Whitefish Lake – Arrow Lake

Both those walking and driving run the risk of encountering icy and slippery surfaces.

Though a large buildup of ice is not expected, there may be periods when icy conditions occur.

Particular caution should be exercized when dealing with steep slopes and untreated roads and sidewalks.
