Esa Salo

Esa Aatos Salo, age 68 years, of Dryden, Ontario passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday June 6, 2013 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Esa was born in Halsua, Finland on December 1, 1944 to Maiju and Ensti Salo. He moved with his family to Port Arthur, Ontario Canada at the age of 12.
Esa was married to Thelma Salo in June, 1965; they were married in Port Arthur, Ontario. Esa and Thelma spent many hours with family and friends camping, fishing and hunting. He was also an avid golfer and loved to watch Nascar races. He was a successful, well-respected member of IBEW Local 402 and worked all across North America while proudly mentoring his sons in the electrical trade.
Esa is survived by his two sons Darwin (Di-Anne) and grandchildren Camryn and Carter of Thunder Bay, Ontario, son Trever (Michelle) and grandchildren Cassidy and Taylor of Raleigh, North Carolina, brothers Esko (Betty) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Jari (Linda) of International Falls, Minnesota sisters Mailis (Ed) of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Riitta (Ken) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Kaisu (John) of Thunder Bay, Ontario and other family and friends throughout Canada, the USA and Finland. Esa was predeceased by his wife Thelma, parents Maiju and Ensti Salo, brother Erik Salo in infancy.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at11:00 a.m. in St. Luke’s Anglican Church with Rev. Deacon Jacqueline Rundle officiating. Interment of ashes will take place in Thunder Bay at a later date.
