The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario is calling for changes to the formula used to fund education.
It’s offering up a plan that includes seven recommendations.
President Sam Hammond says students have been shortchanged for the past twenty years.
Hammond suggests increased funding specific to special education, lower class sizes in the intermediate and kindergarten grades and a review of the funding formula every five years.
He stresses government under-funding has forced school boards to close small and rural schools as well as cut programs.
