Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for all of northwestern Ontario.
Wind chills will be near -40 for much of the day, possibly continuing tonight and into the weekend for some regions.
You are asked to watch for cold related symptoms including shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
A reminder to check on older family, friends and neighbours as there is an elevated risk of frost bite and hypothermia.
You are urged to dress warmly, dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm and a suggestion that the outer layer should be wind resistant.
And if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
