Federal Cash for Atikokan Study

FedNor is giving the Atikokan Economic Development Corporation
$37,000 to fund a major study.
The money will help determine the feasibility of establishing a
laminated veneer lumber manufacturing facility in the Atikokan area.
The plant would use under-utilized wood species and would cater
specifically to the mid-west United States.
It has been forecast that demand for laminated lumber could more than
double by 2014.
