Federal Funding For Three Area Airports

Three Northwestern Ontario airports are sharing more than $941,000 from the federal government to maintain regional connectivity and jobs.

The Kenora Airport Authority will receive nearly $510,000, the Red Lake Airport more than $341,000 and the Township of Atikokan $90,000 for its municipal airport.

The money comes from FedNor.

The government says the pandemic has had major impacts on regional air transportation and communities and this money will help in the financial recovery.

The funding can be used to replace and/or repair outdated equipment and implement modernization measures to improve operations as well as enhance safety and maintain air service.
