The Northern Ontario Medical School was handed $6-million Thursday from the Federal Government.
The money will go towards biomedical research.
Founding Dean Roger Strasser says the funding provides a huge boost and says research is an essential component of any successful Medical School.
The facility, which opens this August, has trimmed 2,100 potential applicants down to 400.
Interviews begin this weekend to determine who will be included in the first-year class of 56 students.
