Feds Invest In Local Seniors Programs

The federal government is out with more than $200,000 in funding for nine seniors programs in the Kenora district.

The money will be used to teach computer skills, repair facilities, build a greenhouse and allow elders to pass along their knowledge to youth.

On the receiving end of the funding include the Dryden Mission, Vermilion Bay Lions Club, the Local Services Board of Wabigoon, the Machin Municipal Housing Corporation and the Ignace Silver Tops Seniors Centre.

The money comes from the New Horizons for Seniors program, aimed at supporting seniors’ volunteerism and community involvement.
