The federal government is providing more opportunities for youth working in northern Indigenous communities.
Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour Patty Hajdu has announced $1.6-million in funding to support the ‘Teach for Canada’ initiative.
The money will help 158 youth in Thunder Bay and Toronto learn how to work in partnership with area First Nations, learn Indigenous languages and learn about Canadian history through an Indigenous lens.
Those involved will also be able to obtain teaching placements at schools in northern First Nations.
