Feds Won’t Meet Pot Legalization Target For July

The federal government’s own deadline to legalize recreational marijuana is now up in smoke.

Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor says the final vote in the Senate is scheduled for early June, with the provinces and territories needing eight to 12 weeks for implementation.

Petitpas Taylor says if you do the math, you can certainly see that it won’t be July of this year.

She admits that there is now no exact date.

Petitpas notes the implementation of the cannabis legislation isn’t a date, but a process that they have to effectively deal with.
