Fencing Around Pools

Inflatable pools are literally popping up in backyards across the
City as local residents find ways to beat the heat.
Officials are pleased that people have a place to cool off, however
safety concerns have been raised.
Chief Building Official Bob Cunningham says the Cities fencing bylaw
needs to be retooled.
Currently fencing is not required around inflatable and above-ground
pools.
Cunningham says he plans to introduce stronger rules to Council in
the near future.
Several Municipalities, including Fort Frances, have bylaws in place
that require fencing.
