FF by-election has two candidates 1

Fort Frances voters will have two candidates to choose from in the by-election scheduled for January 14th.

Former councilor Todd Hamilton will face Ken Perry, unless one of them pulls out by today’s 5 p.m. deadline.

In the actual election, Perry garnered 1,593 votes, while Hamilton was close behind with 1,552.

Perry says he’s running for the same reason he did in the original election…

Hamilton says people don’t realize the last time someone had to take over a council seat, it wasn’t by succession…

Meanwhile, Mayor Roy Avis said the decision to have a by-election was from the whole council…

Avis added council took into consideration many factors about how to fill the vacant seat, including cost.
