Abitibi Consolidated has started a process where layoffs are taking place at their mills across the country, including Fort Frances.

Leclerc stressed the company is looking at ways to keep their mills competitive, and are talking to the province to see what can be done.
He noted the layoffs right now are only affecting management and clerical staff.
