A couple of Minnesota hunters are facing hefty fines for illegally killing a
moose.
The incident took place back in September on Windigo Lake, north of Pickle Lake.
The MNR says two men shot a bull moose with a high-powered rifle, while the animal
was swimming.
Mark and Paul Greninger were fined three thousand and 15 hundred dollars respectively
for hunting while in a motor boat.
They brought the moose back to shore and skinned it, taking only some of the larger
portions of meat with them.
They face charges of shooting a moose while swimming, discharging a firearm from
a motor boat and allowing wild game meat to rot.
In addition to 91 hundred dollars in fines, they are also prohibited from hunting in Ontario for two years.
