Mr. Fioravante “Fury” Pauselli, age 72, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Fury was born March 1, 1938. He was born in Gubbio, Perugia, Italy to his parents Antonio and Liduina Pauselli, and was the youngest of 5 children. Fury left Italy and began to travel Europe at a young age. He worked in France and Luxembourg, and eventually made his way to Canada at the age of 23 in search of a new beginning. His first few years in this country were spent working as a mason between Thunder Bay and Atikokan. In 1969, he moved to Dryden and began a partnership in a tire sales and repair business, whose prosperity lead to the opening of R&P Tire in 1980. Fury was a talented and dedicated business man and spent countless hours repairing and delivering tires throughout Northwestern Ontario. He was a caring brother, uncle, husband and father, and always made an effort to provide for his family. Fury loved to hunt and fish, and could make an adventure out of going for firewood. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed music and dancing, and loved to garden, especially when it came to pruning apple trees. Many will remember him as a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Dryden; he was also a member of Elks Canada in Thunder Bay and enjoyed sharing a beer and stories with his friends there. After retirement, Fury returned to Thunder Bay to be closer to his sister and nephews. Fury is survived by his children Michela, Marco, Matteo and their mother, brother Giuseppe, sisters Isolina Belardi and Elena Minelli, nephews Joe and Frank Minelli and their families, as well as other numerous family members in France and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Ettore, and niece Tammy Minelli. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11:00a.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. of St. Patrick’s Cathedral officiating. Visitation for friends will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Fioravante Pauselli in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2011.
