There is no cause for concern if you see a forest fire burning in the Lac Seul area.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is allowing an island fire to burn in order to restore and maintain the ecosystem on the island.
The Ministry says the blaze is within the Lac Seul Islands Conservation Reserve and isn’t being extinguished in order to achieve natural benefits.
Signs are posted on the island alerting the public of the situation and you are asked to keep a safe distance away until the fire has been called out and the signs have been removed.
