Fire Hall #2 won’t be closed after all.
A few months back, Dryden City Council was asked to vote on an Administration report that called for closure of the #2 Hall, citing savings in operations and building maintenance.
Council received numerous complaints from residents – mostly about public safety and huge insurance increases for homeowners in the former Township.
City CAO Ernie Remillard says further investigation showed anyone living just 8km from the main hall would be faced with increased insurance costs – contrasting the 13km distance cited in the original report. Given concerns from residents and the new information on insurance costs, Remillard says the decision to NOT close Fire Hall #2 was an easy one.
