Campers hoping to sit around the camp fire over the long weekend may be disappointed.
The Ministry of Natural Resources fire ban is still in place and Information Officer Debbie McLean says it may continue into next week.
McLean says they will take a number of factors into play before making a decision but it will be made by the weekend.
Rain and cooler temperatures earlier this week helped, but windy-dry conditions quickly changed things.
Meantime, the MNR is now dealing with people flipping cigarette butts outside their vehicles.
That was the cause of a major blaze off Highway 72, just south of Sioux Lookout last night.
The fire smouldered into the bush, engulfing timber and dead grass on its path.
It was contained with help the water bomber and ground crews.
However, one official says if conditions were windy and the blaze was during the day, it could have been much worse.
This is the second such blaze in under a week.
Overall, the MNR is dealing with 6 to 11 new fires a day.
