It was a night to honor those who have helped promote fire safety in Northwestern Ontario.
The Northwestern Ontario Fire Safety Coalition Conference held its fire and life safety awards banquet in Dryden yesterday.
Among those to be recognized, Deanna Pacheco, Michelle Ott, Weyerhaeuser, and our own Fawcett Broadcasting.
Dryden Deputy Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the ceremony, usually held in Toronto, helps honor those who save lives.
As well, Weyerhaeuser Dryden Mill Manager Norm Bush presented the Coalition with a 25-thousand dollar cheque to assist in the purchase of a mobile fire safety vehicle.
The vehicle will tour the regions school promoting fire safety.
Kurz hopes to have the vehicle operational this September.
Fire Officials, Healthcare Professionals, and Municipal Leaders across the province are in Dryden for the meetings.
The two day conference wraps up today.
