Its Fire Prevention Week and the Dryden Fire Service is out with a few helpful safety tips.
Emergency Services Educator Regan Breeze says this year’s theme is ‘Smoke Alarms-A Sound You Can Live With’.
Breeze says smoke alarms are mandatory in each level of a residence and can increase your chance of living by 50%.
He notes smoke alarms only have a 10-year life.
He says homeowners should test their smoke alarms each month and change the batteries at least once year.
A fine for non-compliance can run you $235.
Breeze also recommends that homeowners install a carbon monoxide detector.
Dryden Fire will be hosting an Open House from 4 until 7 today. (Wednesday).
