Hundreds of reinforcements from Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan are going home after helping fire crews in Northwestern Ontario.
Firefighters have been stationed in Sioux Lookout, Ignace and the Thunder Bay area to battle several massive blazes.
MNR Spokesman Bob Thomas says the fire situation in the region has greatly improved.
Thomas says the only active forest fires burning are minor ones.
The western firefighters should be home by Friday.
