Fires Across the Region Still Out of Control

Two major bush fires continue to cause problems for fire crews this morning.
A bush fire near Amesdale is still not under control and reached the north end of Rugby Lake last night.
A Ministry of Natural Resources spokesperson says no homes have been destroyed, however the MNR has installed sprinkler systems to nearby homes as a precautionary measure.
Meantime, the Lauren Lake access road is closed, and Highway 665 from Henderson North Loop to Richan Road is also closed.
In Ignace, the township is under a cloud of smoke this morning.
A fire that forced the evacuation of hundreds of homes last night continues to rage.
Residents were allowed back in their homes around 9:30 last night and police reopened Highway 17.
However, the OPP say officers and fire crews are keeping a close eye on the wind, and stress that residents may be asked again to leave.
