A local family caught in the centre of a recent incident at the Dryden Regional Health Centre is speaking out.
A doctor has been ordered to take cultural sensitivity training after making racist comments to a First Nations family during their trip to the emergency room earlier this month.
In a media release, a spokesperson for the family, Elder Philip Gardner says they are overwhelmed with the number of individuals and organizations who have come forward to support the family.
Gardner singles out Grand Council Treaty 3 and Eagle Lake First Nation.
Gardner states the family needs time to absorb the significance of what has occured and is requesting privacy.
He adds the family won’t be responding to media enquiries.
