The auditor general is once again sounding the alarm over
conditions on aboriginal reserves.
In a report tabled in the House of Commons today (Thursday), interim auditor general John Wiersema says conditions on those reserves is getting worse instead of better.
He says there is a growing housing shortage, aboriginal children aren’t getting near the education obtained by the general population and more than half of reserves are facing risks from bad drinking water.
Wiersema says the federal government and First Nations have to
find new ways of tackling the problems.
