Frustrated First Nations groups are planning a big protest at the Ontario legislature today in their escalating fight over the H-S-T.
They say the new harmonized sales tax coming into effect in Ontario July 1st will rob them of a point-of-sale exemption they get on the provincial portion of the merged tax.
A new report commissioned by the Chiefs of Ontario suggests it will cost First Nations between 85 and 120-million dollars in the first year of the H-S-T, and will increase each year.
