Aboriginals across northwestern Ontario continue to speak out against the Federal Government’s proposed Education Act.
At a rally held earlier today at Fort William First Nation, Nishnawbe-Aski Nation Deputy Grand Chief Goyce Kakegamic stated the government should not be making key decisions when it comes to first nations education.
Kakegamic says the Act falls short in addressing pre-school and post-secondary education needs,
He stresses that youth are concerned about their future.
He notes aboriginals are in the best position to decide what they want in terms of education.
Kakegamic says that rallies are also being held today in Toronto, Ottawa and Sudbury.
