Dryden Council is losing another one of its members.
Mel Fisher has submitted his resignation, effective September 15th.
Fisher says this decision has been a long time coming.
Fisher stresses his main reason for leaving is because he feels like he isn’t being heard on council.
Fisher says he feels that’s he’s not effective and having no impact.
He adds there’s no point of being stressed out when no one is listening to him.
Fisher says he’s completely out of step with Council on almost every issue.
FIsher was a Councillor on the former Town of Dryden Council from 1969 to 1972.
He was elected to City Council in 2006 and re-elected in 2010.
Fisher says he will continue to sit on various City boards, unless asked otherwise.
Fisher is the second councillor to leave this term.
Mike Wood resigned last December.
The office of Councillor will be declared vacant at the September 17th meeting.
Under the Municipal Act, within 60 days of declaring a vacancy the municipality shall either appoint a person to fill the vacancy or pass a by-law requiring a by-election to fill the vacancy.
