A huge third period was the difference as the Dryden Ice Dogs skated away with a crucial 6-3 win over the English River Miners Wednesday night in the SIJHL.
The Dogs scored five times in the final frame.
Zach Kerz led the Dryden attack with a pair of goals, while Tim Kavanaugh, Nolan Kinney, Derek McPhail and Chris Varrin added singles.
Taylor Bargar, Vincent Currao and John Morales replied for English River.
Dryden moves seven points ahead of the Miners in the standings.
In other action, the Fort Frances Lakers snuck past the Minnesota Iron Rangers 2-1.
