Five New Forest Fires In Northwestern Ontario

The Ministry of Natural Resources is keeping a close eye on the forest fire situation across the northwest.
Five new fires are reported and 40-fires continue to burn.
Four of the new starts are in Red Lake and one is reported in Thunder Bay.
The forest fire hazard is expected to reach extreme in the next couple of days.
Information Officer Debbie MacLean says lightning is the main contributor of the fires.
MacLean adds that smoke from massive fires in Manitoba and even as far as the Northwest Territories is making its way to the region.
