Flood watch extended in Thunder Bay/Ignace Districts

The threat of flooding remains for Ignace, Upsala, Raith, Kashabowie, Shebandowan, Armstrong and Thunder Bay areas.

The forecast for extended periods of rain has prompted the Ministry of Natural Resources to extend a flood watch imposed last week to this Wednesday.

The Ministry is also extending the watch to include the Dryden, Fort Frances and Atikokan areas.

Between 20 and 30 millimetres of rain is forecast to fall today and tomorrow in most areas.

The Ministry says area lakes, rivers and streams have the potential of rising, creating flooding conditions.

Flooding in low-lying areas is expected, and areas where high water levels exist can expect those conditions to continue.

Residents are also being advised to avoid roads that are less travelled.

Some areas have also experienced road or lane closures.
