In loving memory of Florence Zoccole (nee Pitchenese), who passed away peacefully at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the age of 87.
Florence is survived by her son Leonard (Rose) Favelle of Vermilion Bay; Mildred Mills of Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation; grandchildren Kim (Forrester) Henriksen of Waldhof; Evan (Terry) Favelle of Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation; step grandson Dennis Zoccole of Dryden; two great grandchildren Jason and Jaime of Winnipeg and two great great grandchildren Jessica and Jorden of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Florence was born in Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation. She enjoyed the outdoors and had a great love for birds and animals. Florence lived on Eagle Lake with her first husband Alphonse Favelle and had three children. They eventually moved into the Vermilion Bay area when the kids began attending school. She worked at many of the local businesses and was always in demand as a babysitter. After Alphonse’s passing, Florence married Carl Zoccole. While at Basket Lake she and Carl built a cabin and enjoyed trapping, fishing and hunting. Florence had many interests including wild rice harvesting, berry picking, gardening and Pow Wows. In her later years she returned home to Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation.
Visitation was held Monday January 12, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Wabigoon Lake Cemetery on January 13, 2009.
The family of Florence Zoccole would like to extend a heartful thank you to the Staff and Volunteers of the Dryden Regional Health Centre and the Wabigoon Lake Home Care Department for the excellent care given to Florence, our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother.
Florence will be sadly missed and always remembered.
