A new report says the flu vaccine is not effective as public health messaging suggests.
The Northwestern Health Unit disagrees and is out with a campaign to encourage the public to get the shot.
Spokesperson Donna Stanley says flu shots reduce the risk of severe infection from the influenza virus.
She says anyone who spends a lot of time around people who might get really sick from the flu should get the vaccine, so they don’t spread the sickness to others.
Flu shots will be offered across the district starting next week.
