Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren says that Dryden’s Chris Pronger will never play professional hockey again.
Holmgren made the statement in an interview with the Hockey News.
Holmgren says he has no problems making the statement.
Pronger hasn’t hit the ice since 2011 and has battled post-concussion symptoms and an eye injury.
Because he’s on long-term injured reserve, Pronger’s $11-million remaining salary can’t be bought out by the Flyers.
If he does retire, the salary-cap hit is spread over four seasons.
