Fobister Inquest Continues

There was some intense testimony today at the inquest taking place looking into the shooting death of a 17-year-old Grassy Narrows resident.

Sergeant Dean Barclay was the member of the OPP’s Emergency Response Team who killed Geronimo Fobister on August 27th, 2003.

Barclay described his actions that day leading up to the stand-off with Fobister.

He says officers tracked him through a graveyard and found him lying on the ground with a shotgun across his chest.

Barclay says he spoke to Fobister for several minutes, during which time, he became increasingly agitated.

Barclay notes Fobister seemed to be getting ready to take his life and at one point asked the officer what his wife would think if shoots him.

The first week of testimony wraps up this afternoon and will resume on Monday.
