For Once, Good News in Atikokan

FedNor has come to the aid of Atikokan.
Minister of State Andy Mitchell says more than $1-million will
be spent to help the Township deal with the impending closure of the
Coal-Fired Plant.
The municipality will use $200,000 to develop an
economic recovery strategy and to hire a consulting firm to draft a long
term plan.
Mitchell says once a strategy is in place another $850,000 will be
spent to support initiatives identified by the community.
He says they want the entire community involved in order to
accelerate the Town’s economic diversity plan.
