The provincial government is defending its decision to end the Cap and Trade Tax program.
Environment Minister Rod Phillips says the move will make a big difference for job creation.
Phillips says employers were telling the government that the cost of the program was impacting jobs.
He notes it was also affecting affordability for individual Ontarians.
Premier Doug Ford says the move will lead to lower prices for gasoline and home heating fuels.
Rod Phillips says they will work with their partners, who were part of the previous program, to ensure they wind down the program in a “gradual and responsible” way.
