The writing is on the wall for the Forest Industry across NWO.
Kenora Mayor Dave Canfield says unless Government help is received in the next 5 years, it could be the death knell to much of the region as mills close & people loose high paying jobs.
Canfield is a member of the Provincially appointed committee trying to come up with solutions to concerns such as fiber supply & high energy costs.
He & Thunder Bay Mayor Lynn Peterson work on the committee along with representatives from the industry & is confident Natural Resources Minister David Ramsey will act on their recommendations due at the end of March…
The Auto Industry sees major cash flowing from the Feds & Province when it runs into trouble & Canfield sees no reason why the Forestry sector should be treated any differently.
