Forest Agreement

Canada’s top pulp and paper companies have agreed to immediately stop logging on 29-million hectares of Northern forest in a historic agreement with environmental groups.
The Canadian Boreal Forest agreement announced today comes after three years of negotiations.
The Forest Products Association of Canada has committed to the highest environmental standards under an agreement that covers 72-million hectares of public land.
For their part, environmental groups including Canopy, Forest Ethics and Greenpeace suspend “do not buy” campaigns as the agreement is implemented.
The groups had previously lobbied paper suppliers Staples and Office Depot and fashion house Victoria Secret against buying paper from Canadian companies.
