Forest Fire Hazard High Across Region

Forest fire hazard in the northwest is high.

Officials say another sunny and dry day across the region may result in forest fires, and even extreme conditions in the far north.

Four fires were confirmed by last night, including one west of Kakabeka Falls, listed as not under control. Rain on Monday, however, is expected to reduce the hazard.

Meanwhile, highways and roads previously closed due to forest fire are now open.

Shoal Lake Road was closed for much of the evening yesterday, after a forest fire burning north of the First Nation was reported as being 350 hectares in size, and crossed the road. It is not a threat to the community. (File photo)
