Municipalities in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts are being made aware of a looming forest fire hazard.
The recent jackpine budworm invasion has killed off large swaths of forests between Fort Frances and Red Lake over the past couple of years.
Ministry of Natural Resources biologist Scott Lockhart says they have already started working on fire fighting plans for the region.
Lockhart says Municipalities should have emergency plans in place in case smoke becomes severe, or if they are called on to assist smaller communities which may need to be evacuated.
