Forest Fire Update in Northwest

After a busy couple of days, things have quieted down for Ministry of Natural Resources Fire Crews.
Fire Rangers had to deal with more than a dozen small wild fires Friday and Saturday.
The blazes were caused by high winds and storms that blew into the area late last week.
The MNR says they had more than 16 fires in the Dryden, Fort Frances and Nipigon Districts.
Most were caused by trees falling on hydro lines, but didn’t pose too many difficulties for fire crews.
Meantime, the MNR has sent more help to battle forest fires in other provinces.
Yesterday, firefighters from the Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Fort Frances and Kenora areas were dispatched to the Pas, Manitoba.
2-waterbombers and a birddog aircraft were also sent.
The MNR also has personnel in Quebec and the Northwest Territories.
