Forest Fire Update in Northwestern Ontario

There are now 101-active forest fires burning in Northwestern Ontario, with over 2,000 firefighters committed to the blazes.
Ministry of Natural Resources Information Officer Owen Vaughan says firefighters are doing an exceptional job keeping the flames from hitting First Nation communities.
Fires are burning 3-kilometres away from Keewaywin, 5-kilometres away from McDowell Lake, 6-kilometres away from North Spirit Lake and 9-kilometres from Sandy Lake.
Vaughan says the fires aren’t threatening any property.
He points out that smoke continues to be extreme in the Far North.
He notes crews are still searching for possible new starts following Wednesday’s storm.
