Forest Fires Sparked In Red Lake Area

The Red Lake District is seeing an increase in forest fire activity.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is dealing with a handful of fires in the area, including one in Woodland Caribou Park, heading north towards Pikangikum.

There is no threat to the community.

There’s a second fire burning in the Park at 250-hectares in size.

Another fire of note is Red Lake #7 which is 600-hectares in size and is not under control.

There were three new fires Wednesday in the districts of Kenora, Red Lake and Sioux Lookout.
